Air India's pride 1969 - The first Boeing 747 lands into Santa Cruz International Airport, Mumbai, India
In 1976,our International Air India Air Hostesses modelled the colourful new uniforms Featured above are the famous Saris, the Churidhar/Kameez and the combination suit for our Japanese and European Air Hostesses. Photo taken in the "Maharaja Lounge" on board the Boeing 747 'Emperor Akbar'. The new uniforms were a runaway success
Air India's symbol "The Mighty Centaur". The symbol of speed, accuracy, strength and grace. Air India named their Centaur Hotels in India after this symbol.

| A Day in the Life of an Air India Hostess |
29 March 1976 -The Boeing 747, bearing the name "Emperor Akbar" on its nose and "Air India" on its tail, lifted off the Bombay tarmac and headed east on its first journey via Perth to Sydney, Australia.

The days of the famous Boeing 707
The "707 Mock-up" is where it all begins.All aspects of Inflight Service, and allied subjects were taught. This rare black and white photo dates back to the early 1970's
Classes were conducted in the "747 Mock-Up". It was one of its kind and dates back to 1971.Inside a large hangar a complex structure housed the Cabin Crew Training Centre, which consisted of 4 Classrooms, a Grooming Room, the "707 Mock-up",the "747 Mock-up", Officers' Cabins, and general office and administration areas
