Morgantown Writers Group

We are a collective of writers who deal seriously with critiques of new manuscripts.
We focus primarily on prose and poetry, and/or the interests of members. We have combed through dozens of manuscripts from novel excerpts to short-short works, to creative non-fiction. We have undertaken writing challenges, in the form of short fiction, in the winter. For information, click on the train station.

We meet on Tuesdays twice a month from September through June--usually the second and fourth Tuesday. Times are  6:30 p.m .to 8:00 p.m. at the  Morgantown Public Library. We continue informally at a local restaurant. Changes are posted in timely email bulletins. There are no membership dues. MWG has organized formal retreat weekends, focusing solely on manuscript critiques.

We call ourselves MWG although we have been given other names. The predecessor was the GoldenRod Writers, a tri-state writers conference, primarily serving writers of northcentral West Virginia, western Pennsylvania and western Maryland. GoldenRod was founded in March 193 and organized a conference for 18 years. The organizations published anthologies, too.
